Azota u vazduhu ima oko 78 % i neiscrpan je izvor za biljke.\u00a0Azot iz vazduha ne mogu biljke direktno koristit nego to \u010dine mikroorganizmi. Razlikujemo: simbiotsku i asimbiotsku azotofiksaciju.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Simbiotska azotofiksacija<\/strong> predstavlja zna\u010dajan vid snabdevanja biljaka azotom iz vazduha putem simbiotskih bakterija koje \u017eive na korenu biljaka.Ove bakterije na korenu stvaraju o\u0161te\u0107enja(kvr\u017eice) u kojima su sme\u0161tene bakterije, a koje su spososobne da fiksiraju elementarni azot. Za ovo su karakteristi\u010dne biljne vrste iz porodice leguminoza .Rhisobium sp.je bakterija koja ima tu sposobnost, ali najve\u0107i deo azotnih jedinja stvoren na ovaj na\u010din postaje pristupa\u010dan za biljke tek kada se zavr\u0161i vegetacija biljaka, koju parazitiraju ove bakterije.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Asimbiotska azotofiksacija<\/strong> je mikrobiolo\u0161ki proces, gde se elementarni azot iz vazduha dovodi u zemlji\u0161te preko specifi\u010dnih bakterija koje ne \u017eive na korenovim dlla\u010dicama, nego pored njih. One se hrane od izlu\u010devina korena i u procesu umn\u017eavanja i odumiranja ostavljaju zna\u010dajnu koli\u010dinu azotnih jedinjenja. Ova jedinjenja se mineralizuju nakon odumiranja bakterija.<br \/>\nPrednost ovog procesa je, \u0161to ovde nije potrebno da biljna vrsta zavr\u0161i vegetaciju pa da se tek onda koriste hranjiva jedinjenja,nego su ona odmah na raspolaganju biljkama. Procesi kroz koje prolaze simbiotska i asimbiotska azotofiksacija se nastavljaju putem amonifikacije, nitrifikacije i denitrifikacije.<br \/>\n<strong>Amonifikacija<\/strong> pretstavlja mikrobiolo\u0161ki proces mineralizacije organskih jedinjenja\u00a0do stvaranja amonijaka. Amonijak ostaje u \u0107elijama za njihove potrebe\u00a0 sve dok je odnos C:N ve\u0107i od 20:1. Izdvaja se tek kada se taj odnos smanji. Ovaj amonijak se dalje redukuje u procesu nitrifikacije.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Nitrifikacija<\/strong> predstavlja nastavak mikrobiolo\u0161kog procesa oksidacije amonijaka u nitrate preko nitrita. Nitrati su ovako veoma pokretljivi,a oksidacija je poslu\u017eila bakterijama kao izvor energije i mogu\u0107nost obrazovanja ugljene kiseline, \u010diju ulogu u zemlji\u0161tu smo objasnili. Zbog svoje pokretljivookresti (N) se veoma lako gubi iz zemlji\u0161ta.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Denitrifikacija<\/strong> je suprotan proces nitrifikaciji, koja je tako\u0111e mikrobiolo\u0161ki proces koji obavljaju specifi\u010dne zemlji\u0161ne bakterije, a koji je \u0161tetan za biljke.
